A world-premiere Kathak composition exploring the life and teachings of Sai Baba of Shirdi - a saint who transcended religious boundaries and embodied universal compassion. Through classical footwork, expressive abhinaya, and devotional music, the piece traces Sai Baba's journey from the forests of Shirdi to the hearts of millions. Choreographed and directed by Creations Director Piyalee Das Sharma.

Noor Jahan
The Light of the World
A world-premiere narrative Kathak exploring the extraordinary life of Mehr-un-Nissa, who became Noor Jahan - the most powerful empress in Mughal history. The piece weaves together the grace of classical Kathak with the drama of a woman who wielded political power, wrote poetry, and commanded armies. Choreographed and directed by Creations Director Piyalee Das Sharma.

About
Creations Kathak
Creations Kathak is a debut production bringing the classical North Indian dance form of Kathak to the stage in Alabama. Directed by Piyalee Das Sharma, the company was formed to create original, story-driven Kathak productions that speak to both the Indian diaspora and the broader American audience.
Kathak - one of the eight classical Indian dance forms - is characterized by intricate footwork, expressive facial storytelling (abhinaya), and graceful spins (chakkar). Kathak originated in the temples of Rajasthan in the 1800s before making its way to the Mughal courts, where it was further refined and developed.
Light of Shirdi and Noor Jahan are world-premiere original compositions - never before performed publicly. November 15, 2026 is their debut.
